The Zero Waste Associate (ZWA) courses identified practical tools for information gathering and generating community support to make change possible on a local level. Having students work in groups and give presentations expanded the knowledge base of each student and broadened the discussion. The exercises provided practical, real world, examples for applying the tools identified in class and helped students hone essential communication skills. — Susan Strand, Administrative Analyst, Recycling, City of West Sacramento

I loved the interactive nature of the ZWA classes and the high level of knowledge, experience, and skill of the instructors and the participants. I learned so much and am still assimilating the information I gained. I have much more to learn and look forward to participating in more training opportunities. — Deborah Beyea, Deputy Director, Berkeley Ecology Center

Awesome presentation and depth, look forward to working on my specific project of Zero Waste special events in Dallas Metroplex. — Frank Villarreal, Precision Special Events

The Introduction To  Zero Waste training provided an overview on the history of Zero Waste; current programs and how communities can communicate the Zero Waste message working with stakeholders and city councils to adopt Zero Waste ordinances and plans, and information on the environmental and fiscal impacts that Zero Waste has on our local communities, businesses and the environment. I would strongly suggest any government agency or business that is interested in how to effectively reduce their waste stream to take the class. I have over 15 pages of notes that I plan on sharing with my managers, staff and community.”
