Class Description: Introduction to Zero Waste (IZW) is a four-hour online (zoom) or six-hour in-person class designed, hosted, and taught by Zero Waste USA board members and staff. Participants will learn about Zero Waste principles and the Zero Waste International Alliance’s (ZWIA) Zero Waste definition and Hierarchy during this class. Participants will also be introduced to Zero Waste principles and planning techniques for businesses, institutions, and communities.

IZW includes ample time for questions and discussion. Participants will complete a quiz and evaluation and receive a Certificate of Completion.

Class Goal and Outcome: This class aims to introduce the principles of Zero Waste to participants beginning their journey to learn about Zero Waste. The participants who should attend this class are young professionals, municipal employees, and individuals who want to advocate for Zero Waste in their community or business. By the end of the class, participants should understand what Zero Waste is and how it is carried out in businesses and communities.
