Zero Waste USA offers a variety of classes for Zero Waste advocates, organizers, professionals, and emerging professionals.
Introduction to Zero Waste
The Introduction to Zero Waste class is a four-hour online class taught by Zero Waste USA board members or staff. During this class, participants will learn about Zero Waste principles and planning techniques for businesses, institutions, and communities. In addition, this class includes a small group project, quiz, and Certificate of Completion.
Zero Waste Associates Course
The Zero Waste Associates (ZWA) Course teaches participants how to use the Zero Waste USA tools for Zero Waste planning for businesses, institutions, and communities. The ZWA Course includes 12 hours of instruction plus a four hour Zero Waste Planning Presentation class. This course includes homework, group projects, an exam, and an evaluation. Upon completion, participants will be certified as Zero Waste Associates by Zero Waste USA.
Advanced Zero Waste Planning
The Advanced Zero Waste Planning Course is designed to deliver in-depth instruction on tools used in Zero Waste Planning. Participants will get instruction on all of Zero Waste USA’s planning tools, which precede the advanced tools. The advanced Zero Waste planning tools taught in this course include the Diversion Potential and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Analysis along with the Cost Estimate Tool.
Zero Waste for Businesses and Institutions
This class teaches participants how to get a business or institution on the path to Zero Waste. Participants will learn about the nine points of generation, case studies, and best practices to get to Zero Waste. Business and Institution Zero Waste Planning tools will be taught also. This is an interactive four-hour online (zoom) class taught by Zero Waste experts.
